We had good wind until about three in the morning, then I had to drop the sails and start motoring. Woke up to flat seas and a beautiful sunrise. I jumped on the to-do list and spent the morning splicing the anchor rode to my new chain. I scored a used Rocna anchor and three hundred feet of chain, which is going to step up the safety factor at anchor by a real margin.

Some good wildlife encounters today. A lone sea lion showed off a few tricks, and a small pod of dolphins came up to the boat once I had the engine off. The rest of the day was for catching up with family and friends and putting in some time on celestial navigation. I took a sun sight today and processed yesterday's. Fishing lines are back in the water, and I am steering toward a thin strip of current that should bring us back into wind.
